- Validity
- Versions
It is not possible to use templates when editing an existing text, because templates would overwrite the content of the text.
In addition to saving the text it also possible to use the buttons "Copy" and "Delete" to end the editing of a text.
- "Delete" - Deletes the text irrevocably from the SABIO system.
- "Copy" - Closes the editor and creates a copy of the text on the same node. Note: If the system settings allow only only one text per node, the copy will be opened in a new editor tab without a path. At least one path has to be added to save the copied text.
Tip: In which cases should I use the "Copy" function? To copy a text only makes sense if the content of the new text will differ from the original. If the content stays the same but should be displayed on another node, it is recommended to add additional paths to the text. This allows for the text to be displayed in multiple locations, but the maintenance of the text happens only once. A possible use-case would be a text with the same topic but different levels of detail, that is accessible to different user groups using branches. In this case the original text would be copied and further information would be added afterwards. Are there other ways to copy a text? Yes, it is also possible to use the copy&paste function in the editing mode of the tree, to copy a node with its enclosed text. |
