How are documents linked to text elements
Similar to a system without text elements, a user can link documents to a text element when creating or editing it. Documents can be uploaded either via drag & drop or by clicking on the button “Add document” and then selecting a file from the device and uploading it.
The user can see the documents, which are linked to the text element in the section above the drag & drop area for uploading documents. The only difference to a system without text elements is that a user can attach documents to individual text elements instead of whole texts.
The total number of documents, that are linked to a text, is displayed in the toolbar.
Depending on a user’s assigned views, this number may differ from user to user, since the linked documents have the same views allocated to them as the text element itself.
Example:
- Text “Example Text” consists of two text elements. A document is attached to each text element.
-
Text element 1:
- assigned views: “Telmo 1st Level” and “Telmo 2nd Level”
- content: “This is a car and this is a motorcycle.”
- linked documents: “exampleDoc1.pdf”
-
Text element 2:
- assigned views: “Telmo 2nd Level”
- content: “This is a house.”
- linked douments: “exampleDoc2.pdf”
- Hans Bauer, who may see content in the view “Telmo 1st Level”, only sees text element 1 and the document attached to text element 1.
-
Rainer Jordan, who may see content in the views “Telmo 1st Level” and “Telmo 2nd Level”:
- sees both text elements and the documents attached to them while working “in all views”.
- sees text element 1 and the document attached to text element 1 while working in the view “Telmo 1st Level”.
- sees both text elements and the documents attached to them while working in the view “Telmo 2nd Level”.
